Chelsea Clinton fired back at President Trump after the commander-in-chief took a jab at her mom while defending his decision to have his daughter fill his seat at a G20 event over the weekend.
“If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!” Trump tweeted Monday morning.
Chelsea quickly returned fire on the social media service.
“Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not,” she said.
The president faced backlash after Ivanka Trump briefly sat in his chair during a meeting of G20 leaders in Hamburg, Germany, on Saturday — a move he called “very standard” in another tweet Monday morning.
